    Hello Mohinder,

If you would like to rejoin the association you will need to join through an NCGA club; NCGA is a golf association of golf clubs, not individual members as the handicap system depends on peer review. You can sign up through a regular club (affiliated with a golf course) or an associate club (those affiliated with places of employment, social groups, etc.), or an NCGA eClub: http://www.ncga.org/ncga-services/eclub/

You can access NCGA clubs on our website via the Associate Club Directory, the Golf Course Directory or aforementioned eClub sections. Some of these club entries have their individual website links and may allow you to join that particular club through their website.

NCGA membership runs on a calendar year; we have an Annual Fall Renewal Period which starts shortly before October 1st and always concludes with the December cutoff date for the January 1 indexes. During the renewal period, you can retain membership for the remainder of 2007 and all of 2008 for one price. If you would like additional information please feel free to give us a call at the NCGA office (831) 625-4653. Thanks.

I renewed my NCGA membership about two months ago; but my card was lost. How can I apply for a replacement card?

  4. Mary / NCGA Membership writes:

    John,

Replacement card requests are to be mailed with a $5.00 check to NCGA, P.O. Box NCGA, Pebble Beach, CA 93955. It is imparative that the members GHIN number is on the check or included in the envelope. The company that issues the cards will mail them to the address of record that NCGA for the member. Please note it will take 4-6 weeks for delivery. Any additional information needed please contact our office at (831) 625-4653. Thank you.

I’m an active duty military member, attending the Naval Postgraduate School and will graduate in March ‘08. My question is: if I renew my membership, will my GHIN account still be active and follow me to my new duty station (Rhode Island)?

  8. Mary / NCGA Membership writes:

    Coy,

Yes Rholde Island is one of 62 other associations using the same vendor (GHIN) that the NCGA utilizes. Your NCGA/GHIN number, personal information and your score history will transfer. You will need join a new club in Rhode Island and be sure to give them your current GHIN number. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact us at 831-625-4653. 10. Mary / NCGA Membership writes:

    Michael,

To renew your membership you need to renew through your current club or join another club. Membership renewals through an NCGA eClub can be done online: http://www.ncga.org/ncga-services/eclub/.

If you would like more information on how to contact a particular club please feel free to contact anyone in the membership department. For now your GHIN number is still available to you and it is important to inform any club you join that you still have a GHIN number. If I can be of any further assistance please call me at 831-625-4653. Thank you.

Membership in the NCGA is through a golf club. THe NCGA’s many clubs have different policies regarding renewing or joining.

The NCGA does offer online renewal to the members of its eClubs:
    http://www.ncga.org/ncga-services/eclub/

Membership in an NCGA eClub is available through this link. We will can then assist you in finding membership in another regular or associate club if you wish.

  15. Newt writes:

I am a member of two clubs, am I required to pay multi-membership fee to both clubs?

  16. Mary / NCGA Membership writes:

    Newt,

Yes you are required to pay both clubs and you might even find that the clubs have different fees. Each club determines their own fees. The NCGA charges each club $40 for a new member, $30 for renewing member and $6.00 for juniors. Some clubs add administrative costs, tournament costs etc which is why you might not find consistency in the amount charged per member. The NCGA used to give a discount to multi members but over the past two years the number of rebate submissions has dropped 43% to an all-time low and to a point where only a little over 6% of those eligible for a rebate have applied. This drastic decline coupled with the high cost and resources necessary to process applications, do not justify the continuance of the program.
If further explanation is needed please feel free to contact the membership department at 831-625-4653. Thank you.

  17. David Mellow writes:

My question is the same as some above. How do I renew online? You should be able to click on something, give your NCGA # and fill out the payment info. Thanks

  18. Mary / NCGA Membership writes:

NCGA memberships are renewed through the members club. Online renewal is available to the members of an NCGA eClub: http://www.ncga.org/ncga-services/eclub/.

Each club is its own entity therefore all membership fees can be different from each club and must be paid directly to the club. The NCGA oversees clubs and the clubs oversee their members. If any member has questions on how to contact their club please feel free to contact the membership department at NCGA and we can give the handicap chairperson and/or billing contact for their club. Membership Department can be reached at 831-625-4653.

I let my membership lapse about 1 year ago. My number was 5669-541. I would like to renew it. What will it cost me and how will I be billed? My address remains the same: 46 Baypoint Village Dr. San Rafael, CA 94901.

  20. Mary / NCGA Membership writes:

    Mark,

Currently you have an active NCGA membership, although your membership will need to be renewed before December 31, 2007. You have several options 1) Renew with the club you are a member with now; 2) Join a new club or 3) Sign up online with one of the eClubs (NCGA electronic club). Please feel free to contact me at 831-625-4653 and I can explain all this in much further detail. Take care.

I will be relocating to Texas in January 2008 so renewing with my local club seems pointless. What should I do to maintain my membership and handicap?

  22. Mary / NCGA Membership writes:

    Noel,

Thank you for your question. All NCGA membership is affiliated with clubs. Unfortunately you cannot be an NCGA member without belonging to one of our regular clubs, associate clubs or eClubs, although we do have many members that live out of state and continue to pay their club membership. Noel, please feel free to contact me by phone and I can assist you in exploring your club options. 831-625-4653

DUH…you remind us to renew on your home page but it takes several steps to learn that you cannot renew on line…please post that info on you home page! It’ll save you a few email inquiries.

    Scott Seward writes:

David - While we strive to make renewing your membership as easy as possible, your membership in the NCGA is through your club as the NCGA is an association of golf clubs. If that is not clear, we apologize. The message we try to commnicate is one that urges our members to renew through their clubs.

We certainly want your membership experience to be a postive one. Thank you for writing in.

    John,

In October the NCGA membership department sent out an officer update form for each club. Your club sent theirs back with a new club name which happens from time to time with clubs. Please note your club number has not changed. I did attempt to contact a couple of the officers to verify this information since the box was not checked off, only the name changed, but I never heard back. If you find out there has been error made please have someone contact me directly. Thank you. 831-625-4653

I went to my club today to renew my membership and was told they do not do that. They said I should just go online to NCGA and handle this. San Jose Muni is the club and after reviewing my email from NCGA it says go to the club to renew. I wouldn’t mind some clarification. Thanks

  28. Mary / NCGA Membership writes:

    Chris,

You read our email correctly, you do renew your club membership directly with your club. You can call me and I can give you the name and phone number of your contact person with the club that we have record of. I would also suggest you have your club call us so we can clarify the renewal process with them. Please feel free to contact me or anyone in the membership department at 831-625-4653. Take care.
