Pebble Beach Gate Fee Waived
NCGA members, on the day they play at Poppy Hills, will now be able to enter 17 Mile Drive and the Pebble Beach area free of charge.
Previously a portion of the gate fee was reimbursed but a new member benefit and agreement with Pebble Beach Company allows members to keep the full $9 fee they used to pay, on the day they play at Poppy Hills. To gain access to 17 Mile Drive, NCGA members will need to provide proof of membership either through their member card or through the handicap sheet from the current revision and have a starting time. Gate fees will no longer be reimbursed at the Poppy Hills Golf Shop.
As a further benefit, on the days NCGA members play Poppy Hills, Pebble Beach’s Peter Hay Course can be played for $10 (50% savings) by showing a same day receipt from Poppy Hills. The par-3 course, located across the street from the first tee of its famed big brother, measures 725 yards and presents a perfect opportunity to work on the short game as well as enjoy a second round in the Del Monte Forest.

This is great news! My 7 year old will love to play Peter Hay and the gate fee issue has been a long time coming.
October 2nd, 2007 at 4:27 pmI have not received a membership card since 2004 and I often don’t get to my home club to pick up new monthly index sheets before playing Poppy. Do I show my old membership card or an old index sheet?
October 4th, 2007 at 5:35 pmHello, great idea & wonderful service, playing the Pebble Beach
course as a 10 year Dukes member, should be this simple, thankyou

October 4th, 2007 at 8:49 pmMr. Reynolds,
You will be happy to know that membership cards will be issued again in 2008. In the meantime, you can print out a verification of your membership from the NCGA website, http://www.ncga.org. Click on the “Your Handicap” tab. Once there input your member/GHIN number, this will open a new window with your handicap record and will list your

The NCGA does so many things for its members. This is another example why we are a part of the best golf association in the U.S.
October 5th, 2007 at 11:59 amWow! Another great benefit for being an N.C.G.A. member!
Tonight at our send off for the Queens of the Forest this season a number of our club members were talking about the news. Since we play Poppy Hills on such a regular basis this is really HUGE!
Thank you N.C.G.A.!
October 9th, 2007 at 11:06 pmMr. Reynolds: If you have signed up to to receive your index information via email on the first of each month, there is a replica of your membership card and monthly validation sticker that you may print out within that email.
If you haven’t signed up for this service, you may do so via the link on the main page of the http://www.ncga.org site.
Thank you.
Sincerely,

Love the idea. Someone should have thought of it sooner. As they say “Better Late Than Never”. A thank you to however deserves it!
October 16th, 2007 at 10:54 pmI played Poppy Hills yesterday, 11/29/2007 and the man at the gate told me that my current handicap sheet report is not good for entry into the 17 mile drive. He said that I must have a current card only. He was unwilling to even look at it. Seeing as I did not have my membership card with me, this caused a problem. You need to properly inform the gate personal as to what they are required to see for acces to 17 mile drive.
November 30th, 2007 at 5:00 pmRemoving the gate fee is great news! There were times (in the past)when I would bring between 70 and 140 golfers in on chartered busses and was charged the fee for each player! Needless to say, that was ridiculous. As soon as I feel confident my nearly 15,800 CA members and I will not run into the same problem as Butch (above), we’ll start booking tournaments at Poppy Hills again.
February 20th, 2008 at 2:19 pmThis is not applicable anymore. We were there 8/23/08 and had to pay. We were told that we could the get it back through the course, but the course was closed (Peter Hay). Told to write to the address on the brochure. There’s no address on the brochure. After talking to 5 different people on the phone, I am still trying to get our money back. Will let you know what happens.
August 26th, 2008 at 4:59 pmGloria – It is still applicable when playing Poppy Hills only as an NCGA member. If you have a starting time at Poppy Hills, the gate fee should not be charged. Playing Peter Hay doesn’t qualify.
August 26th, 2008 at 7:01 pmYes. Thank you. We did go back about two weeks later. We did have a tee time at Poppy Hills. The gate person insisted we pay. We drove through without paying after tempers were fueling in cars behind us. So, we didn’t pay, but it wasn’t the conventional method. The next day we played Peter Hay and got the fee reimbursed. Vindicated indeed!
October 18th, 2008 at 3:27 pmI need to know if the 2009 cards will be sent to me before April 7th, so that I may enter the gate and receive my Poppy Hills golf fee discounts. If it will not be sent before April 7th, then it would not make sense for me to join at this time. Please advise.
March 15th, 2009 at 4:00 amI played two years. I had not heard about this policy and of course the guard did not even mention it. Seeing the above stories tells the procedure is not properly in place yet. Many guard don’t know, won’t help. Does the gate have a daily sheet of who’s playing poppy? What about your group being in another name. I don’t think this is a benefit a all. It still has many problems.
October 16th, 2009 at 9:15 amErnie – Sometimes not every guard realizes this is in place and they have to be reminded. We have widely promoted this as a member benefit and we apologize that you never heard about it. Thanks for writing in.
