NCGA Rules Situations – Equipment

rulles08.jpgQuite some time ago I purchased a set of brush tees – one short and one long tee.  They were tied together to avoid losing one or the other. While I use the tall tee the short one is resting (on the string) about 10″ from the one being used. Recently I was informed that “tied-together” tees are not allowed because it could be used to line up a shot. Could you please confirm this rule?

You make the call: Read the definition of a tee and 8-2a.

Answer:  While brush tees are legal to use, having them attached to each other with a string means the tee in this configuration does not meet the definition of a conforming tee because the string and 2nd tee can be positioned to give line of play or assistance to the player while making a stroke. The penalty for using a non-conforming tee is disqualification.

a friend says that the max number of strokes allowed on a par 3 for handicaps of 10-19 is 6 (or double the par). Is that true of is there no such rule for any par strokes?

Becky – That number is actually 7 for 10-19 handicaps. More information on maximum number of strokes is available here:
