Pebble Beach-NCGA Invitational

The first-ever Pebble Beach - NCGA Invitational will be held July 3-6 at Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course and Poppy Hills Golf Course. The Invitational is an opportunity to play world-class courses on a holiday weekend at a terrific rate.

The Northern California Golf Association and Pebble Beach Resorts look forward to making the Pebble Beach NCGA Invitational a 4th of July tradition for NCGA members and their guests. The format of the event will be a four-ball, featuring three flights based on team handicaps. NCGA members may bring one guest to be their partner or they may play with another NCGA member. This is a great chance for golfers to compete in their own version of the PGA Tour’s AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Hello, this is not clear. If my golf partner and I sign up and bring our spouses, what is the cost? Then, if I already have a home in the area, and don’t need lodging, is the price the same?

      Thanks,

      Matt

      Mr. McAlerney,

Unfortunately, there is not a “locals” rate. All participants must stay at the Inn at Spanish Bay. This oportunity could not have been made available without the inclusion of rooms. As for bringing your spouse, you would have to upgrade to a golfer/non-golfer room and those rates start at $2,900/couple. Please contact me at the NCGA office (831-625-4653) if you have any further questions.

Let me see if I got this straight. Pebble is $500 per round, Spyglass about 300 and Poppy under a Hun if NCGA member. That’s $900 max for three rounds of golf at “gougetail” rates. Hole-in-one insurance for a Lexus is under $700 divided by how many entrants? One or two pops at a cocktail party is $20 max and one banquet, one BBQ and a breakfast is $90 max. Tee gifts and prizes is $100 per head max. That’s under $1100 so far. One person in a “forest” room at Spanish Bay is worth $300 per night max so we’re still under $2000. Is there a deal here? I don’t see it and I am guaranteed to put together a better deal anytime. How many suckers do you get for this gig?

NCGA Note: Please see Scott Seward’s post for actual rates and savings.

Here is the breakdown of the package using regular rates:
      Golf:
      Pebble Beach - $495
      Spyglass Hill - $330
Poppy Hills - $87 (with cart)
      Total golf = $912

      Spanish Bay Forest Room - $665 each night (x3) = $1995
Assuming you are sharing a room = $997.50
(These rates do not include taxes and service charges. With these included, the rate is actually well over $700 a night).

Also included are three meals and a welcome reception as well as the tee gifts and prizes.

Finally - this package was scheduled for a holiday weekend, one of the busiest of the year for golf courses when starting times are difficult to secure. Seeing that the event sold out in less than 48 hours, we know that most members are thrilled by the opportunity to play the AT&T rotation in an organized tournament on a holiday weekend at a reduced rate.

I am confused. We stay at the spanish inn from the 3rd to the 5th? Are the rooms one bed? When are payments do and how is the payment done? Thanks a lot! I haven’t played in a tourny all year and would love to play in this one! Hope to hear from you soon.

Matt - The overnights at Spanish Bay are from July 3rd-6th. Check in is after 4 pm on the 3rd and check out is the morning of the 6th. We have sold this event out, but if you would contact me via e-mail (tbowden@ncga.org) I would be happy to add you to our wait list.

      Sincerely,
