FORMAT: 18 hole stroke play. Boys in Class A & B will play from the BLACK tees. Boys in Class C and Girls will play from the FORWARD tees. Qualifiers will advance to the Championship Proper at Lake Merced GC on August 4-5, 2008. The number of spots available at each qualifying site will be determined based on the total number of entrants and final field at each site. Final number of spots will be available from the committee on the day of qualifying.
RULES OF PLAY: The 2008-2009 USGA Rules of Golf are in effect and are supplemented by the enclosed NCGA rules card. The committee will provide any additional Local Rules needed at the tee. It is the individual player’s responsibility to know the conditions of the competition. The “One Ball Rule” is not in effect.
CADDIES/CARTS: NO CADDIES OR CARTS WILL BE ALLOWED. Each competitor must carry his/her own bag for the duration of the round.
SPECTATORS: Parents and spectators MUST follow the policy of keeping at least 25 yards from the players during their round. No power carts for spectators.
1st TEE TIME: 8:00 AM off of tee 1. Players should be at their assigned tee 10 minutes prior to their tee time.
PRACTICE ROUND: If you wish to play a practice round you must make reservations two weeks in advance by calling the Rooster Run GC golf shop at the number listed above.
WITHDRAWALS AND NO SHOWS: See enclosed NCGA rules card. Players who have entered into a NCGA event and wish to withdraw for any reason MUST notify the NCGA Rules and Competitions Department at (831) 625-4653. You may call during regular business hours or between 5:00 PM and 8:00 AM and leave a message. Failure to notify the NCGA will cause the player to be listed as a NO SHOW resulting in a ONE-YEAR SUSPENSION FROM ALL NCGA EVENTS FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR FOLLOWING THE INFRACTION. A player who only contacts the course and NOT the NCGA will incur the suspension.
LATE APPEARANCE: Starters will not page players in advance of their starting time. Players are solely responsible for knowing their starting times and must be present and ready to play at the time laid down by the Committee. The order of play is not relevant. See NCGA Rules Card.
FOOTWEAR: Non-metal spikes required. Shoes with traditionally designed spikes (regardless of composition, i.e., ceramic) or spikes, regardless of design, comprised either entirely or partially of metal (when such metal comes in contact with the surface of the putting green) are prohibited. Penalty for breach of this condition: DISQUALIFICATION.
DRESS CODE: See enclosed NCGA rules card.
PLAYOFF: Ties will be broken by a play-off. If a play-off cannot be conducted (decision of the committee and golf course) the USGA suggested method of matching cards will be used.
