LIVERMORE – Parent/child teams battled it out on the links at Poppy Ridge GC in the Annual NCGA Parent-Child Championship where three winning teams emerged from respective handicap divisions.
Jack and Jeff Wilson of Green Valley GC captured the President’s flight title for the second year in a row with a seven-under-par total 137. The overnight leaders held off the Knoll team to claim the title by a comfortable six strokes in the foursome altnerate-shot format. Father, Jeff Wilson is currently ranked fourth on the NCGA player of the year rankings.
Cameron Park GC’s Brian and Rick Knoll posted two solid rounds of 72-71 to claim runner-up place by a single stroke over family members Gerry and Donny Knoll who finished at even-par 144.
In the Director’s flight, for players with 9-13 handicaps, two teams tied in first place with a score of net seven-under-par 137. Kelli and Taylor Knoll of Eichleay GC were the overnight leaders and carded a final-round 72 to force a playoff with James and Kaylyn Sung who fired a spectacular final-round 65.
The Knoll’s went on to succeed in the playoff and claim the championship, while the Sung’s finished in runner-up place. Meanwhile, Alan and Nate Adkins of Riverview GCC nabbed the third-place spot with one-under-par 143.
The Secretary’s flight was won by Greentree GC’s Devyn Fitchorn and Scott Watson with an impressive 15-under-par 129. The pair followed up a first-round net 63 with a 66 today to claim the title by three strokes over the field.
Guy and Izumi Tada of Mira Vista GCC carded a 12-under-par 132 to claim the runner-up place. Six strokes back in third, Phil and Tyler Nemeth of Serrano GCC fired an even-par final round to finish at 138.
