PEBBLE BEACH - Plumas Lake GC mastered the speedy Spyglass Hill greens to capture the 2008 NCGA Zone Championship.
The team of Tommy Ford, R. F. Martin, Martin Matsumoto and Jim Whisman fired a final-round net 21-under-par to finish at 42-under-par 246 and claim the championship by a single stroke.
Plumas Lake were tied in second place after the first round and managed to hold off Mount Whitney’s 29-under-par score on the final day in the format which takes the best two of four net scores per hole.
The Mount Whitney team of Larry Benbrook, Logan Benbrook, Jeff Roberts and Mike Sullivan carded a two-round net 41-under-par 247, while William Land Park CG’s Randall Brown, Edward Modeste, Greg Pantages and Tom Straub finished in third place at 36-under-par 252.
