GHIN to Enhance Services
The NCGA’s handicap service, the USGA’s Golf Handicap Information Network, is upgrading its server to improve services.
The conversion is scheduled to begin on Friday, September 19 at 1 am and will be completed on or before Wednesday, September 24.
During this conversion, access to GHIN and most of its services will be unavailable. Also, access to online tournament registration will not be available. The services affected include club transmissions, Internet score posting and access to GHINClub.net. Handicap lookups via GHIN.com will remain operational with only brief interruptions. All applicable club transmissions and tournament inquiries should be completed by Thursday, September 18. Notification will be posted on GHIN.com and GHINClub.net when the server is back online.
This upgrade will bring many exciting enhancements to the GHIN service. These include allowing club transmissions right up to midnight of a revision cut off day and no downtime for the update. Additionally, scores for at least a period of 12 months will be retained for each golfer so you will no longer see just the latest 25 scores.
This is perhaps one of the most significant changes and upgrades to GHIN in the last 25 years laying the foundation for exciting things to come. As with any upgrade of this scale, there is the possibility that data may not display correctly or that an interface may become inoperable. GHIN has taken considerable measures to identify and eliminate potential issues, but problems could still arise.
