PEBBLE BEACH - The 4th Annual NCGA Mixed Team Championship concluded today at Poppy Hills with champions in each of the three handicap divisions.
In the President’s flight for low handicap teams, a tie for the championship emerged at six-under-par 136. The team of Craig Baize and Karen Buchler posted a final-round 68, while Brad Bulcock and Diana Tan of Gleneagles fired a 65 to charge up the leaderboard. Baize and Buchler succeeded on the first playoff hole to claim the championship, while Bulcock and Tan took second.
Bob Fleming and Linda DeLong of New Sac eClub at Haggin Oaks posted a 70 to finish in third place at four-under-par 138.
In the Director’s flight, Jerry and Lynda Toenyes ran away with a victory after posting a final-round 10-under-par 61, which was good enough for a six stroke win over the field at 14-under-par 128.
There was a tie for second place at eight-under-par 134 between the team of Jim and Terry Knoll and the team of Terry Wilson and Linda Stadler of New Sac eClub at Haggin Oaks. Wilson and Stadler won the playoff for second place and the Knolls finished in third.
Carl and Sandra Munio ran away with a 10-stroke margin over the field to claim the Secretary’s flight for higher-handicap players. The Munio’s, who represent eClub South Bay and Putters and Pitchers GC fired a final-round 64 to finish at 15-under-par 127.
Saratoga’s John and Linda Vincent carded a 63 and claimed second with five-under-par 137. Jim and Tommie Rohrer of Carmichael posted a 67 for a four-under-par 138 total to take third place.
The competition consisted of 36 holes mixed chapman stroke play where both players on a team tee off, then they switch balls. Player A plays Player B’s drive, and vice-versa. Each player hits his or her second shot. They then select the better of the second shots, and from that point until the ball is holed they play only one ball in an alternate shot format.

Director’s Flight: Champions Jerry and Lynda Toenyes, runner-up team of
Terry Wilson and Linda Stadler and third place finishers Jim and Terry Knoll.
Secretary’s Flight: Champions Sandra and Carl Munio, runner-up team of
Linda and John Vincent and third place finishers Tommie and Jim Rohrer.
