AJGA Grants Performance-Based Entries to Top NCGA Juniors
The top finishers at the NCGA Junior Championship and the top players during the 2009 season will now receive exemptions into American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) events.
The top ten boys and top three girls, aged 14-18, will receive exemptions to the 80th NCGA Junior Championship, to be held August 3-4 at Spyglass Hill Golf Course. The boy’s winner will receive three exemptions, the second through fifth-place finishers will each receive two exemptions and the sixth through tenth-place finishers will receive one. The winning girl will receive two exemptions, while the second and third-place finishers will receive one.
Additionally, the NCGA Junior boys and girls 14-18 year old Players of the Year will receive one exemption each. Among the 12-13 year old players, the top boy and girl will earn one Junior All-Star exemption. Junior All-Star tournaments are for boys and girls aged 12-15.
The NCGA Junior Championship is open to all boys and girls aged 12-18, with a valid NCGA handicap index. Boys aged 14-18 will play 54 holes over two days, while the girls and boys 12-13 will play 36 holes. Four qualifying tournaments will be held on July 2 at Foxtail GC, Rohnert Park, Las Positas GC, Livermore, Mather GC, Mater and Shoreline GC and Mountain View. The NCGA Junior Tour will conduct 12 events during 2009, which will culminate in the Tour Championship held October 31 and November 1 at Belmont Country Club. The Players of the Year will be named at the conclusion of the Tour Championship.
