2009 NCGA Annual Meeting
Kezirian Elected NCGA President
Vaughn Kezirian of Fresno was officially named 83rd president of the Northern California Golf Association.
Kezirian and other board members for the 2010 golf season were affirmed at the Annual Meeting held at Del Paso CC in Sacramento on December 8.
Kezirian has been a member of the board of directors since 2002 and is in his ninth year on the board. He has a degree from University of California at Berkeley (1970—Criminology). The Ft. Washington member and his wife, Ann, have four daughters Robin, Corrie, Teri Ann and Bobbi.
Kezirian will also be on the boards for the California Golf Association and the Pacific Coast Golf Association, as well as the NCGA’s personnel/advisory committee. He succeeds Michael Hexner, an Olympic Club member. Also seated were Vice President Kerry Gordon of North Ridge CC (in his eighth year) and Secretary-Treasurer Chris Clark of Pasatiempo (in his seventh year).
Current NCGA directors that were re-nominated for the coming year are: Mark Battey of Lake Merced GC (second), Bill Downs of Oakmont (sixth), John Erskine of Castlewood CC (third), Lee Gidney of Cypress Lakes (fourth), Dan Hansford of Castlewood CC (seventh), Brian Morse of Merced GCC (sixth), Anthony Muller of Monterey Peninsula CC (second), Patrick Quinn of San Jose CC (second), John Ronca Jr. of San Luis Obispo CC (third) and Loretta Walker of Morgan Creek GCC (second).
Joining the board for the first of a two-year term is Tom Bone of North Ridge CC.
Retiring after many years of service are Barry Loncke (Sacramento Area Black GC), Jim Moriarty (Olympic Club), Brooke Phayer (Pajaro Valley), John Whitelaw (Del Paso) and Past-President Mark House of Corral de Tierra CC.
Distinguished Service Award

Frank Parr was honored with the NCGA’s Distinguished Service Award
The award was presented to Parr for his active leadership in golf. He served on the NCGA Boardof Directors and the USGA Mid-Amateur Committee where he was instrumental in bringing that event, which he chaired, to his home club, San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno in 2001. He officiated at U.S. Opens, U.S. Senior Opens, U.S. Amateurs and U.S. mid Amateurs as well as numerous NCGA major events and qualifiers
For the past 30 years Parr has been a junior golf NCGA/USGA rules chairman, giving the biggest part of his life to the game. The Fresno resident believes strongly that golf teaches many important lessons in life and strives to instill these teachings in his association with junior golfers. He reflects a profound devotion to the spirit of the game of golf in general and junior golf in particular.
The NCGA has recognized individuals for exceptional service to golf since 1982. The award was formerly known as the Grand Master Award.
