NCGA Junior Tour Spring Series III

PASO ROBLES – Players fought sustained winds of 30 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 as they played in the third NCGA Junior Tour tournament of the spring. Fortunately the heavy rain which hit much of Central California held off until the final putt dropped.

Casie Cathrea of Livermore, won her third consecutive Girls’ Championship Flight of the season with a pair of 79s for 158. Cathrea began the final round four strokes behind Hannah Sodersten who finished in a tie with Asia Adell at 161. Adell was awarded the second place medal by virtue of a final six holes on the second day. Both Sodersten and Adell are from Fresno.

In the Boys’ Championship Flight, Nicolas Noya of South San Francisco parred the first playoff hole to defeat Alex Franklin, San Rafael after both players finished with a score of 148. Justin Marchiando of Carmel and Matthew Crawford from Redwood City tied for third one shot back of Noya and Franklin.

San Rafael’s, Brian Naro’s excellent first round of 74 gave him an 11-stroke lead heading into Sunday in the Boys’ First Flight. A final round 87 gave him a 16-shot victory. Tim Lamascus from Clovis finished second, while Bryce Yoshimoto of Fremont finished third.

The Girls’ First Flight featured a three-way battle between Chloe Sales, Palo Alto, Liz Liao of San Jose and Kelsey Kawaguchi from Los Altos. In the end, Sales won by four shots over Liao and Kawaguchi finished third six more shots back.

Winners of the Boys’ Net medals are Matthew Yount, Brandon Page and Daniel Frantz.  The Girls Net medals were won by Tiffany Nichols, Grace Park  and Sara Scarlett.
