PEBBLE BEACH – With a final round charge, the Benbow GC team of William Coffelt, Jon Lefebre, James Pogue and Richard Sutherland captured the NCGA North Zone Championship at Poppy Hills.

Benbow fired a hot 24-under 120 in the final round, in the format that takes the best two of four net scores per hole, leading to a 252 total. The Willow Creek team of William Goodman, Zane Grant, Ronald Wermes and Bruce Williamson was second, three strokes back. First-round leader Palo Cedro was third, four behind the champions.

Benbow and Willow Creek qualify for the Zone Championship, to be held August 30-31 at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill.
