49th Annual NCGA Senior Net Championship

PEBBLE BEACH – Senior golfers from across Northern California competed in three handicap divisions at the 49th Annual NCGA Net Senior Championship at Poppy Hills.

The 36-hole stroke play net event for golfers over the age of 55 divided competition into three handicap divisions including the President’s Flight (10.5 and below), the Director’s Flight (10.6 – 13.9) and the Secretary’s Flight (14.0 and above).

George Allen of Half Moon Bay captured the President’s Flight with a net seven-under-par 137. Allen finished strong posting a seven-under-par 65, following a first-round 72. Frank Luna of Sierra View fell to second place at net four-under 140, after a first-round lead of four-under-par 68.  John Whalen of New Sacramento Golf and Bob Pieroni of Morgan Creek tied for third place, one stroke back at three-under-par 141.

In the Director’s Flight, Steve Huddleston of Green Valley also posted a final-round net seven-under-par 65, following a first-round 72. Huddleston secured the flight at seven-under 137, with Larry Fillmore of Deer Ridge two strokes behind at five-under 139. Windsor’s Jerry Minkoff took third at one-under-par 143.

Paul Agriesti of Greenhorn Creek won the Secretary’s Flight with the lowest final score of nine-under-par 135. Finishing the final round with a seven-under 65, Agriesti was five strokes ahead of Geoff Jewett of Golf and Social Club and John Jameson of Timber Creek at two-under 140. Jewett nabbed second place in a cardoff which left Jameson in third.

President's Flight: Champion George Allen, second place finisher Frank Luna and John Whalen and Bob Pieroni tied for third.

Director's Flight: Champion Steve Huddleston, third place finisher Jerry Minkoff and second place finisher Larry Fillmore.

Secretary's Flight: Champion Paul Agriesti, third place finisher John Jameson and second place finisher Geoff Jewett.
