NCGA Junior Tour – Summer Series IV – Poplar Creek
The NCGA Junior Tour concluded its Summer Series at Poplar Creek Golf Course in San Mateo. The Boys Championship Flight was won by Trevor Murphy, who posted sizzling rounds of 70 and 66 to win by three strokes over Jonathan Lin. Jonathan also shot under par for the tournament with scores of 69 and 70, but couldn’t keep up Trevor, who played spectacular golf. Third place was won by Richard Ayala, who shot rounds of 72 and 69 for a 141 total.
The Boys First Flight was won by Ryan Cuenca. Ryan back up his first round score of 74, with a red hot 67 in the final round to also win by three strokes. In second place was Eamonn Coughlin, who played solid golf, shooting rounds of 73 and 71 for a total of 144. Third place winner Bryce Yoshimoto came in three shots behind Coughlin at 147, firing solid rounds of 74 and 73.
The Boys Net winners were Chad Castro, Matt Cinelli, who was playing in his first NCGA Junior Tour event, won second place, and third place was won by Adam Yount.
The Girls Championship Flight winner was Casie Cathrea. Casie is coming off a spectacular summer of golf. She continued her stellar play with rounds of 70, 68 to win going away. Second place was won in a card off by Carly Childs. Carly posted consistent rounds of 76, 74 for a total of 150. Nichole Cruz came in third place, with a nice comeback final round. After shooting a 78 on the first day, she shot a solid 72 on the final day.
The Girls First Flight was won by Amanjoty Sangha. After her amazing 73 on the first day, she hung on to the lead with a 77 on the final day to win by one stroke. Kelsey Kawaguchi tried her best to catch Amanjoty by firing a stellar 74 on the final day, but fell one shot short. Kelsey finished at 151. Kalmina Wu and Chloe Sales tied for third place at 154. Although Chloe eagled the par four 11th hole by holing out her approach shot, she shot a 79 on the final day to fall to third place.
Girls Net winners were Erin Sweeney (1st place), Jayshree Sarathey (2nd place), and Anna Zhou (3rd place).
