NCGA Junior Tour Fall Series I at Pajaro Valley GC
The NCGA Junior Tour kicked off its Fall Series at Pajaro Valley this past weekend. One hundred players and their parents braved the unseasonably cool weather, as scores soared under tough conditions. The Boys Championship Flight was won in a two hole playoff by Nick Noya of South San Francisco. Nick and Taylor Bromley of Hayward both shot stellar rounds of 73-72, finishing at 145. This is Nick’s second win this year on the NCGA Junior Tour. Andrej Bevins of Elk Grove, who, despite great rounds of 72-74, fell one shot back and finished in 3rd place.
The Boys First Flight was won by David Laskin. His tremendous play on the first day was backed up on the second day, as he cruised to his first win on the NCGA Junior Tour. David’s rounds of 77-79, for a total of 156, were four shots better than second place winner Zach Goldblatt, who shot 80-80, for a total of 160. Bryce Yoshimoto continued his strong play with a 3rd place finish. Bryce’s rounds of 84-78 were six shots back of David.
The Girls First Flight was won by Michelle Xie. Michelle shot an 81 on the first day, but sizzled in the final round with a career best 73. She cruised to a victory with a total of 154. Her total was eight shots better than second place winner Kalmina Wu, who was a model of consistency with rounds of 81-81. Third place was won by another Laskin, David’s sister Emily. Emily shot identical rounds of 82-82, for a total of 164.
The Girls Championship Flight was an entertaining finish. Carly Childs, Paige Lee and Kathleen Scavo were all tied after the first round. They played together in the final grouping along with Hannah O’Sullivan who was a mere two shots back. Unfortunatelyfor Hannah, who made the match play round in the US Women’s Amateur this summer, she couldn’t make up that ground, and finished in 4th. Kathleen finished in third when she followed up her first round 78 with another 78 in the final round. Her total of 156 left her two shots back. Carly and Paige shot identical rounds of 78-76, both finishing at 154, with Carly winning in a one hole playoff.
The Boys Net winners are Chadwin Castro (1st place); Max House (2nd place); and Drew Kim (3rd place). The Girls Net winners are Belinda Hu (1st place); Simar Singh (2nd place); and Jessica Luo (3rd place).
