Farb Wins NCPGA Assistant Professional of the Year

September 7, 2010

Ryan Farb

PEBBLE BEACH – Poppy Hills Assistant Professional Ryan Farb earned the Northern California PGA’s “Assistant Professional of the Year” award for 2010.

He was born in Baltimore, Maryland and then moved to Tucson, Arizona at age 7. Among playing highlights, Farb competed in the 2001 Junior Amateur at Oak Hill in San Antonio, Texas. A 2007 graduate from the University of Georgia with a degree in Classical Culture and Latin, he also studied abroad in Oxford during his schooling.

Farb, who began his career at Poppy Hills in August of 2007, was nominated by Poppy Hills Teaching Professional Ben Alexander. He entered the PGA program at the beginning of 2008, earning Class A status last September while volunteering for the NCGA as a tournament official.

The 25-year old will be honored at the annual PGA Awards Dinner in early December and at the Hanna-Wehrman Cup Matches later this month.

“This is quite an honor,” Farb said. “I am speechless and thrilled.  I am honored to follow in the footsteps of some of the great professionals in our area. It has been a fabulous experience to work at Poppy Hills and to get involved with the NCGA.  In Del Monte Forest alone I can think of at least a handful of Assistants as deserving if not more so than I and this year I’m just the lucky one.”
