NCGA Jr Tour – Fall Series III – Foxtail GC
The NCGA Junior Tour continued its Fall Series at Foxtail GC in Rohnert Park. In the Girls First Flight, Michelle Xie was the first place winner with a rounds of 80-77. Her total of 157 beat out second place winner Simar Singh. Simar also played solidly, posting scores of 79-80, to fall just two shots out of first place at 159. Angela Liu posted rounds of 80-84 to finish third with a total of 164.
The Girls Championship Flight was won by Samantha Esguerra. Coming from behind after a first round score of 74, she shot a 75 in the final round for a total of 149. Her consistent play was one shot better than second place winner Madelin Gedeon, who fired rounds of 76-74 for a 150 total. Third place winner was Linda Brown. She fired the low round on the first day, when she shot a stellar 71. Unfortunately, she couldn’t keep it going on the second day, and her total of 151 left her two shots back of Esguerra.
The Boys First Flight was won by Austin Bautista. He won the tournament on the strength of a strong final round score of 75. Coupled with his first round score of 78, it left him well ahead of the rest of the field. Bryce Yoshimoto continued his strong play again this week with rounds of 80-81, for a total of 161. Third place winner was Thomas Huddleston. His final round of 78 was highlighted by an incredible eagle on the 4th hole. Thomas posted rounds of 84-78 for a total of 162.
The Boys Championship Flight was won by Andrej Bevins. Andrej shot incredible scores of 68-69, for a total of 137. His final round was highlighted with an unbelievable finish, shooting five under par for the last four holes. His birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie finish left his fellow competitors scratching their heads. Daniel Frantz was one of those players. Although Daniel shot great rounds of 71-73, for a tremendous total of 144, he still found himself seven shots behind Andrej. Skylar Finnell had the only other under par score in the final round, with a 70. His total of 144 tied Daniel, and Skylar took second place via a scorecard playoff.
Winners of the Boys Net were Lucas Carper (1st); Stephen Osborne (2nd); Justin Goh (3rd). The Girls Net winners were Andrea Mersino (1st); Brittany O’Bryant (2nd); Megan McGrew (3rd).
