PEBBLE BEACH – The 17th Annual NCGA Net Amateur Championship concluded Tuesday with competition in three flights at Poppy Hills.

In the low handicapper President’s Flight, Brian Keck closed the tournament with an eagle on the par-5 18th to solidify a victory. The Twin Creeks member posted rounds of 67-69 to finish at eight-under-par 136. Greg Ford finished second, posting the lowest round of the day in his flight, net six-under-par 66. Ford, a member of Wente Vineyards, made a gallant attempt at the title, moving up significantly from round-one standings, but fell three-strokes short. Two Bayonet Blackhorse members, Ray Kong and Steve Poletti, tied for third place with a one-over-par net 145.

James Pogue, Benbow GC, grabbed the mid-handicapper Director’s Flight with a staggering second-round score of net eight-under-par 64. In a close field, Micke Grove’s Gary Kiedrowski finished one stroke back from the champion with a net 138, while Kit Samples of Spring Hills snatched third-place honors also one back.

For the Secretary’s Flight, Dennis Dicks (Empire Ranch) was able to hold onto his round-one lead and capture the championship title by seven shots. Moraga’s John Parodi won the card-off for second place as Harry Gabelman, Bennett Valley GC, took third place honors.
