PEBBLE BEACH – Teams from Palo Alto GC and Stanford GC qualified for the Zone Championship in August on Tuesday after both teams totaled a two-day 255 (net 31-under par). Palo Alto GC earned the title of San Francisco Bay Zone champion after beating Stanford GC in a one-hole playoff.

Raymond Fales, Craig Gardner, Douglas Marinkovich and James Schenkel of Palo Alto GC followed up yesterday’s net 25-under at Quail Lodge with a net 6-under 138 on Tuesday at Poppy Hills. Stanford GC’s Mark Agnew, James Colton, Charles Weiss and David Wilkins erased a nine-shot deficit over Palo Alto to force a playoff. They followed Monday’s 126 (net 16-under) at Quail Lodge with a 129 (net 15-under) at Poppy Hills.

Just falling short of one of the top two spots was Green Hill CC who finished one-shot back with a two-day total of 256.

The teams from Palo Alto GC and Stanford GC qualify for the Zone Championship at Spyglass Hill and Poppy Hills on August 29-30.
