SAN JOSE – The Junior Tour of Northern California concluded its summer series at beautiful San Jose Country Club.  The Junior Tour would like to extend its gratitude to San Jose CC for its hospitality and for welcoming our juniors to their facility.  The 6,225 yard track proved once again, that length can be meaningless when it comes to challenging golfers.  Majestically tree-lined fairways, coupled with small, tricky greens proved to be quite a task for our juniors.  However, a few players were able to play well on the seemingly docile, but usually difficult course.

In the Boys Championship Flight, the first day concluded with Owen Lin and Matt Kadiu sharing the lead with a pair of 73s.  Jacob Solomon and Ian Dickeson were both one shot back with a pair of 74s, and Amay Poria and Adam Zakaria were in third with 75s.

Day two found the final group in the Boys Championship Flight within one shot of each other, with a gaggle of players with three shots of the lead.  Jacob Solomon separated himself from the pack and came away with the victory with his final round 73.  His steady play was highlighted by two clutch back to back birdies on holes 16 and 17 as he came away with a mere one shot victory.   His two day total of 147 was indeed one shot better than three other players.  In a scorecard playoff, Owen Lin took second place, and Amay Poria took third; both shot two day totals of 148.

The Girls Championship Flight was led by Hannah Suh with a 71.  She seemed to have tamed the small tricky greens at San Jose CC, and led by four shots over Michelle Xie, who shot a 75. Kyleigh Moreno fired a first round 76 for third place after the first round.  Carly Childs shot a 77 to make up the final group for the final round.

Day two for the Girls Championship Flight was a repeat of day one in that Hannah Suh went out and shot another fine round.  Hannah fired a red hot final round 69 which was marked by four birdies, as she cruised to an eleven shot victory.   Second place winner, Linda Brown came from behind with a final round 73. Linda’s final round was highlighted by birdies on the first three holes, and a front nine 31. She ended with a total of 151.  Third place had three players tied at 155, and after a scorecard playoff, went to Carly Childs.

The Boys First Flight was led by Bryce Yoshimoto after the first round.  Bryce shot a first round 77, and led by two shots over a pair of 79s by Rashad Jaymes and Ryan Johnson.  Day two was a shoot-out in this flight as the final group of Bryce Yoshimoto, Rashad Jaymes, Ryan Johnson and Brendon Yu all had a chance to capture the win.  But it was Kyle Morris who came out of the second to the last group to capture the victory with an amazing final round 73.  His four birdie final round helped him to a two day total of 154.  He ran away with a six shot win over Bryce Yoshimoto and Brendon Yu.  Both ended up with totals of 160, with Bryce capturing second place in a card off.

The Girls First Flight was led by Angela Liu after the first round.  Her opening round 77 was good enough for a three shot lead over Samantha Oliva, who shot an 80.  Aileen Jeong and Belinda Hu found themselves in third place after the first round with scores of 84.  Day two of the Girls First Flight had to go to a three way playoff to determine a winner.  Belinda Hu (84-79), Samantha Oliva (80-83) and Angela Liu (77-86) all ended the final round at 163.  Samantha won on the first playoff hole when she birdied from 10 feet.  Belinda came in second, and Angela finished third.
