Maybe it just a goofy idea; but what if all the NCGA Clubs found a way to have a travel day to Sharp Park? NCGA could get involved; or a grass roots. We could have a bracketed 12 man type of event; where all clubs play Sharp Park. It would create a buzz and support Sharp park with NCGA love.... How can we organize this?

I also started playing golf at Sharps' many years ago and still do from time to time. I am sure some arrangment can be made to accomodate this great golf property. I believe most golfers would be willing to pay more in green fees to manintain and upgrade the course and thus the course would become more solvent. Think of it with some TLC it once again could become a great public golf course as it was intended to be.

NCGA Members, great news for Sharp Park and affordable public golf. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee used his veto power yesterday on the proposed legislation to turnover Sharp Park to the National Park Service.

The Sharp Park Golf Club would like to thank Mayor Ed Lee for his vision and his courage to do the right thing. We would also like to thank the SF Public Golf Alliance, Richard Harris & Bo Links for their tireless efforts!!! Also, thank you to all of the NCGA Members who took the time to write a letter in support of Sharp Park.

Sharp Park is in the best shape it has been in years. Come out & play to see for yourself.

Mayor Ed Lee vetoed legislation today that calls on the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department to transfer management of Sharp Park to the federal government, if an agreement can be reached.

Well Done!

I think everyone who plays golf in the SF Bay Area should try and patronize Sharp Park more often. Improve it's finances...money talks! If the course is earning, the environmentalist will have a tougher time getting their agenda passed. Many courses are in danger of closing due to a lack of revenue - add snakes and frogs and watchout!

Many courses have worked WITH the Audubon Society among others to find mutually beneficial ways to preserve affordable golf AND create and maintain a healthy habitat to area wildlife. At local golf course Callippe in Pleasanton, they've recieved awards and are considered leaders for providing "Certified Audubon Cooperatve Sanctuary" for the butterfly AND the red legged frog. It's a win win that seems so obvious to me. It's the politics of San Francisco that are interfering with a good outcome for either. Everyone loses if you shut down Sharp Park Golf Course.

Sent my e-mail to Mayor Lee on Tuesday (12/13). Hopefully, he will do the right thing and veto this ridiculous piece of legislation. Public Golf Courses must be saved!!

I e-mailed the Mayor, SF Board of Supervisors and The Morning Drive on the Golf Channel. Here is the e-mail I sent to the Golf Channel:

I don’t know if you are aware that the SF Board of Supervisors just voted to close this Alistair McKenzie public course because of a Red Legged Frog and SF Garter Snake. Here is the e-mail I sent to the Mayor:

I grew up in SF and learned to play golf at Sharp Park. The idea that environmentalist are attempting to close the golf course because of a Red Legged Frog and SF Garter Snake because they are occupying a pond that was converted from salt water to fresh water is ridiculous. Had the architect Dr. Alistair McKenzie left the pond in salt water, these animals would never have occupied the pond. If the people who filed this suit are true environmentalist, who I believe are not CA Residents, really want to put the land back to its original state, I would support putting the pond back to a salt water condition. This would eliminate the habitat for the Red Legged Frog and the SF Garter Snake just like God made it. In the final analysis, the golf course has provided additional habitat for these animals.

The Golf Channel and Morning Drive should be all over this issue. Everyone knows that SF is run by a bunch of “Loons” who allow people to dine in public restaurants in the nude. However, should the radical environmentalist win this law suit, it would establish a president that could have a devastating effect for golf courses throughout the US. Think if they found an endangered animal or worm at Augusta National! The law suit will be heard in July of 2012, everyone who loves golf and playing public courses should actively oppose this issue.

I believe all golfers who enjoy playing public courses should jump all over this issue.
