CARMEL – The team from Sea Ranch GC featuring Robert Bowen, Roland Combs, Diane Jordan and Lupe Oropeza shot an incredible net score of 19-under par on Tuesday to win the North Bay Zone Qualifier at Quail Lodge GC. Sea Ranch’s two-day net total of 34-under par, 252, was good enough to overtake first round leader Mayacama GC, who finished second at 33-under par, 253. Rick Herbert, Andy Katzin, Jim Sherbourne and James Silveria representing Mayacama followed yesterday’s 17-under par score with 16-under par 126 at the par 71 Quail Lodge to earn the other spot in August’s championship.
Sea Ranch’s round was benefited by five net birdies, four net eagles and three net double-eagles in a format which takes the two best net scores of a four person team per hole. Mayacama had no net bogeys on their round and also were able to convert six net birdies and five net eagles.
Rounding out the top-five are StoneTree GC, Oakmont GC and Adobe Creek GC. StoneTree and Oakmont which started the day in a tie for second along with Sea Ranch finished at 255 and 256, respectively, while Adobe Creek shot an 18-under par 124 to finish at 257 for a fifth place finish.
Sea Ranch GC and Mayacama GC earned a spot in the 2012 NCGA Zone Championship on August 27-28 at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill with their performances.

PEBBLE BEACH – NCGA zone play kicked off Monday with North Bay and South Bay zones playing at Poppy Hills and Quail Lodge respectively. Teams from the North Bay Zone were competing at Poppy Hills Monday and after the first day the team of Rick Herbert, Andy Katzin, Jim Sherbourne and James Silveira of Mayacama GC lead the event with a net score of 17-under par. Coming in close behind in second place are three teams from Oakmont GC, StoneTree GC and Sea Ranch GC at 15-under par. Right behind them in a tie for fifth place is Sonoma GC and Northwood GC at 14-under par 130.
The scoring format for the event takes the two low net scores of four player teams per hole. The two top teams at the conclusion of tomorrow’s event will qualify for NCGA Zone Championship held at Spyglass Hill on August 27 and 28.
