PEBBLE BEACH – Seven courses stretching across Northern California hosted eight qualifiers Thursday for the NCGA Senior Championship on June 4-5 held at Poppy Hills.

Monarch Bay GC, which hosted the smallest qualifying field gave out five spots with Max Bublitz leading the way with a net 65. Poppy Ridge GC, which hosted two qualifying fields amongst its 27 holes, had 25 spots up for grabs. Ed Chacon shot the low net round (70) on the Chardonnay/Zinfandel setup for one of 13 spots, while Wayne Hoffer shot a net 68 on the Zinfandel/Merlot arrangement leading the way among the course’s 12 qualifiers. San Geronimo GC also divvied up 12 spots with William Hudson shooting the low net round with a 67. Ancil Hoffman GC and Sunnyvale GC each had 19 spots available at their respective qualifiers. Hans Schiesser and Bob Therrien posted net 66s to lead the Sunnyvale qualifier, while Morris Bell bettered all golfers with a net 67 at Ancil Hoffman. Michael Dobrin led the way at the Turkey Creek qualifier with a net 67, which had 18 players qualify. Finally, in the largest qualifier of the day at Del Monte GC in Monterey 22 spots were earned for the June championship with James Stout leading the way with a net 67.
