Junior Tour Summer Series IV

San Jose CC
July 16-17, 2012

Player Info Sheet & Yardages | Pairings/Results

Boys Championship Flight: Jacob Solomon (Champion), Richard Ayala (runner-up) and Tommy Dodge (third place).

The Junior Tour of Northern California, sponsored by Capital Insurance Group (CIG), continued its Summer Series at beautiful San Jose Country Club in San Jose, Calif. San Jose CC’s benign length belies its penchant for consistently testing players’ golf games. Despite the modest 6233 yardage (from the blue tees), San Jose’s notoriously small, tricky and slick greens pushed players to bring their best.

Boys First Flight: Will Richardson (Champion), Ryan Vaughan (runner-up) and Austin Popa (third place).

One of the players who brought their game was Jacob Solomon. Jacob won the Boys Championship Flight with rounds of 69-73 for a total of 142. Solomon continued a recent run of sizzling golf. In addition to this victory, he also finished first in the 14-15 age division at the NCGA Junior Championship—tied for fourth overall—and just won an AJGA event at Ruby Hill. Jacob’s finish was three shots clear of Richard Ayala, who shot a first round 71, but fell a bit short when he fired a 74 on the final day. Tommy Dodge, via a card-off with Colton Bares, took third place with a 36-hole score of 148

The Boys First Flight was won by Will Richardson, who cruised to a nine-stroke victory over Ryan Vaughan and Austin Popa. Richardson fired six birdies during the two days, posting rounds of 77-76 for a 153 total. Vaughan struggled a bit on the second day following his first round 78 with an 84 to finish at 162. He held on though, to place second via a card off with Austin Popa, who also finished at 162, good enough for third place.

Girls Championship Flight: Chloe Corriveau (Champion), Jessica Luo (runner-up), and Jessica Goldstein (third place).

Chloe Corriveau captured the Girls Championship Flight with a come from behind win when she fired a final round 76 for a two-day total of 157. She won the title on the strength of her back nine when she birdied the 10th and 11th holes, and finished the back nine at 1-under par 37. Corriveau finished four shots clear of second place finisher Jessica Luo, who finished at 161 with rounds of 84-77. Jessica Goldstein finished in third place at 162, with rounds of 82-80.

Girls First Flight: Bibilani Lui (Champion), Ysabel Magat (runner-up) and Ellie Loustalot (third place).

Bibilani Liu captured the title in the Girls First Flight when she was fired an 83 on the final day. Despite bogeys on the 14th and 15th holes, she parred 16 and birdied 17 to survive a bogey on 18 to win by two strokes over second place finisher Ysabel Magat (who won in a card off with Ellie Loustalot). Magat improved on her first round score by an incredible 16 strokes when she fired an 81 on the final round. Ellie shot a final round 87 to finish in a second place tie with Ysabel, but lost in the card off to place third.

The Junior Tour continues its summer series with a visit to Poppy Hills GC in Pebble Beach, Calif. on July 24-25.
