ANTIOCH – Jim Knoll won his eighth title of the 2012 points season, with a 143, one-under par total at the East County Senior Championship. The Sunnyvale resident shot rounds of 71 and 72 to capture the victory and expand his lead on the Senior Player of the Year points list. Knoll was three shots better than his nearest competitor Scott Anderson of Walnut Creek. Anderson put up rounds of 75 and 71 to finish runner-up in the event. Peter Moren and Bob Fleming finished in a tie for third at 147 as both players had rounds of 77 and 70 on opposite days. Antioch’s Terry Foreman rounded out the top five as he finished alone at 148 with rounds of 72 and 76.
In the Master division Scott Olds of Antioch had a seven-stroke margin of victory as he fired rounds of 67 and 68 to finish 36 holes at 135. Concord’s Steve Wilson and Dale Bouguennec of Pleasant Hill tied for second place with matching scores of 72 and 70 for a 142 total. Folsom’s Jeff Hoffman took solo fourth place with scores of 70 and 74 for an even-par 144 total. Rounding out the top five were Eddie Myers of Oakley and Jamie Looper of Oakdale, who finished at 147.
The mid-amateur division only had three participants with Taylor Hobin of Antioch beating out Erik Escalona and Mario Gonzalez Jr. Hobin shot rounds of 73 and 74 for a 147 total, two better than Escalona’s 149.
