PEBBLE BEACH – Sunny skies were prevalent for the Tournament Official/Course Rater’s Day at Poppy Hills GC. Tournament Officials and Course Raters spread out all across Northern California give up their own time to help the NCGA run championships and regularly rate the more than 400 golf courses in the region. TOCR Day is a celebration for all the hard work these NCGA volunteers have put in over the past year.

After 18 holes of golf on Friday an awards banquet was held honoring the outstanding service of several volunteers and also for those who performed well on the course. The course rater of the year was awarded to Dave Pearson of Visalia, who has served the NCGA in that capacity for 11 years. The Tournament Official of the year was awarded to Doug Beaumont of Vacaville who has served the NCGA in that capacity for 10 years. Outstanding service awards for among course raters Russ Adamson, Craig Cornell, Keith Schwartz, Bob Benefiel and Bob Hall. For the outstanding service awards among the Tournament Officails included Sam Gross, Paul Layrac, Phil Sexton, Lynne Gangi and Byron Washburn.
