Hansford Elected NCGA President

NCGA President Dan Hansford

Dan Hansford of Pleasanton (right) was officially named 86th president of the Northern California Golf Association.

Hansford and other board members for the 2013 golf season were confirmed at the Association’s Annual Meeting at Pasatiempo GC in Santa Cruz November 29.

Hansford has been a member of the board of directors since 2003 and is in his tenth year on the board.

He has a B.S. in civil engineering from Cal Poly Pomona (1969). He is the president of Viking Steel, a Sacramento-based company. The Lahontan GC, Castlewood CC and Monterey Peninsula CC  member and his wife, Cheryl, have two daughters, Julie and Anne Marie and four grandchildren

Hansford will also be on the boards for the California Golf Association and the Pacific Coast Golf Association, as well as the NCGA’s personnel/advisory committee. He succeeds Chris Clark, a San Jose CC member. Also seated were Vice President Brian Morse of Merced GCC (in his ninth year) and Secretary-Treasurer Lee Gidney of Cypress Lakes (seventh).

Current NCGA directors that were re-nominated for the coming year are: Tom Bone of North Ridge CC (fourth), Tom Carter of eClub East Bay (third), David Doolin of Menlo CC (second), John Erskine of Castlewood CC (sixth), Anthony Muller of Monterey Peninsula CC (fifth), Patrick Quinn of San Jose CC (fifth), Gail Rogers of Pasatiempo (third), John Ronca Jr. of San Luis Obispo CC (sixth), Michael Weeks of Dairy Creek GC (second) and Paul Yost of Kings CC (third).

Joining the board for the first of a two-year term are Brad Bell of Del Paso CC, John Dodsworth of Palo Alto Hills CC, Robert Goldstein of Sequoyah CC and Michael O’Donnell of The Olympic Club.
