PEBBLE BEACH – NCGA Senior Qualifying occurred at four different Northern California golf courses on Thursday. Boundary Oak GC, Darkhorse GC, Eagle Ridge GC and Stevinson Ranch hosted a total of 245 golfers and 99 of those advanced onto the NCGA Senior Championship at Spyglass Hill GC April 1-2.

In Walnut Creek at Boundary Oak GC, Bob Rowland posted the low score across all four qualifying sites with an even-par 72. Rowland was one of 34 golfers from Boundary Oak GC to advance, which hosted 84 golfers on Thursday. Scores of 78 or better were enough to qualify at Boundary Oak GC with an additional five golfers qualifying with a 79 via a scorecard playoff.  The final five to qualify were Roger Boozenny, Bob Olds, Michael Bosma, Robert Duncan and Neal Pearson.

Seventeen golfers qualified at Darkhorse GC in Auburn, the smallest field of the four qualifying sites. Michael Davis and Michael Wiechers shared medalist honors there, with a score of 73. The cut line came at 81 with three of the four golfers firing that score advancing to the championship. Jon Ramer, Tim Snow and Mike Moraes were the three winners of the scorecard playoff, while John Sattler was awarded the first alternate, respectively.

At Eagle Ridge GC in Gilroy, 28 golfers qualified for next month’s championship, which was led by Frank Pieper and Lee Jeberjahn, who each fired 75. Eagle Ridge GC allowed the highest qualifying scores of the four courses as three golfers qualified with an 83: Stephen Oltmann, Robert Middleton and Richard Brown.

Tony McBroom beat out fellow competitors without too much trouble at Stevinson Ranch GC finishing two shots better than his nearest competition with a 73. Twenty golfers qualified from the field of 51 competitors with the cut line coming at 81. The final two golfers to qualify via a scorecard playoff were Chris Williams and Rick Schumate, who beat out Mike Stowell and Brandon Murphy.

All qualifying results are unofficial until the NCGA Championships and Events staff has verified the scorecards from the four qualifying sites. The NCGA Senior Championship will take place April 1-2 at Spyglass Hill GC.
