North Bay Zone Champions: Bobby Aldridge, Joe Aldridge, William Hudson and Chris Tully of Stonetree GC.

MONTEREY – The NCGA North Bay Zone Championship wrapped up Friday at Del Monte GC with Stonetree GC taking top honors. The Stonetree GC team of Bobby Aldridge, Joe Aldridge, William Hudson and Chris Tully put together a 36-hole total of 248, 38-under par—in a format which takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team—to win by three strokes. Starting the day in a four-way tie for third place after a first round 128 at Quail Lodge GC, the quartet of golfers shot the low score of the tournament with a 120, 24-under par at Del Monte GC to get to 248.

North Bay Zone Runner-ups: John Cook, Jerry Hyde, Jerry Lindquist and Sean McDermott of Oakmont GC.

Standing pat and ending the day where it started was the team from Oakmont GC to finish as North Bay Zone runner-ups. The Oakmont GC team consisting of John Cook, Jerry Hyde, Jerry Lindquist and Sean McDermott followed Thursday’s 127 with a 124 Friday to finish at 251, 35-under par. Not far behind and missing out on a playoff after posting scores of 253 were Healdsburg GC and Meadow Napa Valley GC. Adobe Creek GC finished alone in fifth at 256, while Sebastopol GC finished alone in sixth at 257. First-round leaders Silverado GC finished in seventh place at 258, following its first round 124 with a 134.

With their performances, Stonetree GC and Oakmont GC advance to the 47th Annual NCGA Zone Championship August 26-27 at Spyglass Hill GC and Del Monte GC.

CARMEL – The Silverado GC team of Earl Alexander, Don Blank, John Davis and Rodney Wray captured a three-shot lead after the first round of the North Bay Zone Championship at Quail Lodge GC on Thursday. Silverado GC fired a score of 124, 18-under par in a format which takes the best two net scores per holes of a four-man team. The quartet of golfers recorded eight net eagles, three net birdies and a net bogey to jump ahead of the competition.

The team in best position to catch Silverado GC, and alone in second place, is Oakmont GC, who posted a round of 127, 15-under par. The competition really bottlenecks after that as four teams are tied for third at 128, 14-under par (Adobe Creek GC, Hidden Valley Lake GC, Sebastopol GC and Stonetree GC) and two teams are tied for seventh at 129, 13-under par (Petaluma GCC, Meadowood Napa Valley GC). The championship will conclude tomorrow at Del Monte GC with the top two teams advancing to the NCGA Zone Championship August 26-27 at Spyglass Hill GC and Del Monte GC.
