CARMEL – The final round of the South Coast Zone Championship wrapped up on Friday at Quail Lodge GC and produced two more teams for the late summer overall championship.
The Dairy Creek GC team of Greg Dzuba, Chris Eppright, Pat Fleming and Dan Miller posted a 36-hole total of 248, 38-under par in a format which takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team. The quartet of golfers’ final round score of 122, 20-under par allowed them to move up to the top spot of the leaderboard after starting the day in a tie for fourth place. After opening with a score of 126, 18-under par at Del Monte GC, the Dairy Creek GC team improved on Friday by making a net triple eagle, four net eagles and eight net birdies in a bogey free effort.
The Corral de Tierra CC team featuring Kent Hansen, Todd Knapp, Jesse Lopez and Mitch Weisberger finished as runner-ups with a two-day total of 253, 33-under par and will join Dairy Creek GC in the overall championship. Starting the day in a tie for first place after a 124, 20-under par at Del Monte GC on Thursday, Corral de Tierra CC fired a 129, 13-under par at the par-71 Quail Lodge GC. The four-man team was bolstered by two net double eagles, two net eagles and five net birdies despite two net bogeys.
Finishing in third place at 255, 31-under par was Monterey Pines GC, while tied for fourth place at 258, 28-under par was Pajaro Valley GC and the Links of Paso Robles. Monterey Bay GC who started the day tied for first fell all the way back to alone in 13th place after a final round of 143.
With their performances Dairy Creek GC and Corral de Tierra CC qualify for the 47th Annual NCGA Zone Championship August 26-27 at Spyglass Hill GC and Del Monte GC.

MONTEREY – Teams from Monterey Bay GC and Corral de Tierra CC share the lead after the first round of NCGA South Coast Zone Championship, each firing a net score of 124, 20-under par at Del Monte GC.
The Monterey Bay GC team of Caesar Aldisert, Al Galt, Jack Henden and Jim Stout took advantage of their home course knowledge scoring a net double eagle, five net eagles and five net birdies, in a format which takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team.
Corral de Tierra CC featuring Kent Hansen, Todd Knapp, Jesse Lopez and Mitch Weisberger, had plenty of red on their card producing nine net birdies, three net eagles and two net double eagles, with their only setback coming on the par-4 10th taking a bogey.
In third place and one shot off the lead at 19-under par is the team from the Links of Paso Robles. They are closely followed by Dairy Creek GC and Pajaro Valley GC, currently tied for fourth place at 18-under par. Still in the hunt at 17-under par and alone in sixth is Monterey Pines GC, while Hunter Ranch GC and Monterey Peninsula CC are tied for seventh at 16-under par.
The championship will wrap up tomorrow at Quail Lodge GC in Carmel. The top two teams at the conclusion of tomorrow’s round will advance to the 47th Annual NCGA Zone Championship August 26-27 at Spyglass Hill GC and Del Monte GC.
