Spots in the upcoming NCGA Associate Club Four-Ball Net Championship were on the line as qualifying was held at nine sites on Thursday.
Over at Ancil Hoffman GC, the duo of Richard Chang and James Roman of Vintage Park GC led the way with a 59. They were followed by second place finishers Vincent Kwan and Greg Yip of Sacramento Chinese GC, who shot 60. There were eight spots available at Ancil Hoffman.
In a qualifier at Castle Oaks, Norm Wiens and Jeff Klein of Christian GC of Central CA. shared medalist honors with Jason Newlin and Jeff Wallace of Metro Golf Addix GC. Each team shot 57. There were six spots available at the Castle Oaks qualifier.
At Crystal Springs, Richard Ortiz and Ayman Naseri were medalists with a 59. There were four spots available in the qualifier at Crystal Springs.
Over at Foxtail North, there were only two spots available. Coming in with the low round of the day, a 60, was the tandem of Mark Menendez and Franco Burcina of eClub North Bay.
In a qualifier at Metropolitan, three teams each shared medalist honors. The tandems of Dave Gerry and Mark Thissell of Crooked Sticks GC, Steve Lamson and John Beyer of Hayward Dealers and David O’Neill and Claude Lincoln of UAL 32 GC all came in with 59′s. There were eight spots available at the qualifier at Metropolitan.
At Paradise Valley, James Thomas and Rand Bottom of Martinez GA led the way with a 56. There were seven spots available at the qualifier at Paradise Valley.
Poppy Ridge GC in Livermore hosted two qualifiers. Playing the Chardonnay and Zinfandel courses, Tom Deroza and Charles Mayfield of Calippe Sr. GC earned medalist honors with a 60. There were five spots available in the Chardonnay/Zinfandel qualifier. On the Zinfandel/Merlot courses, Aaron Lanting and Tim Proschold of BDGE GC shot 59 to lead the field. There were five spots up for grabs in that qualifier.
A qualifier at Ridgemark GC saw John Bettencourt and William Jones of eClub South Bay pair up to shoot a 58. Right behind them was fellow eClub South Bay members Casey Ramback and Andrew Newman, who shot a 59.
Another qualifier was held at Stevinson Ranch. There, three teams shared medalist honors with 59′s–Nathan Margain and Gilbert Marquiz of Pacific Service Emp GC, Ron Yamade and David Ramirez of Fresno MAGA and Thomas Martinez and Octavio Valdez Jr. of Pacific Service EMP GC.
The championship proper will tee off June 23-24 at Spyglass Hill and Del Monte Golf Course.
