Sacramento Regional Par Golf Club came storming back to snare the title.

Sacamento Regional Par GC shot a final round 12-under 130 Tuesday at par-71 Poppy Hills Golf Course to come from five behind and win the 32nd annual NCGA Associate Club Championship. The Sacramento Regional Par GC squad finished the two-day, 36-hole event with a total score of 26-under 260.

First Place

2014 Associate Club Championship winners Sacramento Regional Par Golf Club.

Bay Area Pinseekers GC, who had taken the first round lead, shot 4-under 138 to finish in second place at 263.

Sacramento Regional Par GC, comprised of teammates Ramzi Salameh, Erik Nissen, Daniel Wilson and James Rhoads, made its charge with six eagles and four birdies. They would all come in handy, offsetting three bogeys and a double-bogey on the par-3 11th. In Monday’s first round at Spyglass Hill, the group had four eagles.

At Poppy Hills, the group split their six eagles–getting three on the front-nine and three on the back-nine.

Bay Area Pinseekers GC, which looked to be in command after day one, had one too many miscues in the finale. The squad, made up of teammates Andrano Cota, Keith Videtto, Stephen Shaw and Kenny Langston, managed to post five eagle and three birdies in the second round, but they’d also pencil in five bogeys, a double-bogey and a triple-bogey.

Second Place

2014 Associate Club Championship runner-up Bay Area Pinseekers GC.

Trying to make a run was Dragons Golf Club. Dragons GC, made up of teammates Chris Chong, Jim Hwang, Chih-Ping Liu and Jonathan Chiu, shot a final round 16-under 126 that featured four eagles, eight birdies and just one bogey.

It was enough to push the team into a third place tie at 265 along with three other squads–eClub Monterey, University of Cal GC and Sunol Valley Player’s.

eClub Monterey had a final round 131, while University of Cal GC shot 133. Sunol Valley Player’s, which had entered the final round in second place after an opening 126 at Spyglass Hill, slipped back with a 139.

Bay Area Pinseekers Golf Club is in great position, but there’s still one more round left to play.

Bay Area Pinseekers GC took the first round lead in the NCGA Associate Club Championship, posting a 19-under 125 Monday at par-72 Spyglass Hill.

Comprised of teammates Andrano Cota, Keith Videtto, Stephen Shaw and Kenny Langston, Bay Area Pinseekers GC was nearly flawless, posting six eagles and five birdies to go with just one bogey in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team.

Among the team’s eagles were two back-to-back, coming on the par-4 8th and 9th holes. Their lone miscue was a bogey on the par-4 6th.

Just a stroke behind Bay Area Pinseekers GC is Sunol Valley Player’s, who came in at 126. The Sunol Valley Player’s squad, made up of teammates Manuel Leal, Chris Lang, George Kong and Perry Lee, also had six eagles, five birdies and one bogey.

The one stroke difference between Sunol Valley Player’s and Bay Area Pinseekers GC is the result of one of Sunol Valley’s eagles coming on a par-5, while Bay Area Pinseekers GC had an eagle on a par-3.

In third place at 130, just five behind the leaders, are Sac Regional Par Golf Club and Two Rivers Golf Club.

Sac Regional Par GC. comprised of teammates Ramzi Salameh, Erik Nissen, Daniel Wilson and James Rhoads, had four eagles, seven birdies and a bogey. Two Rivers GC, made up of teammates Jim Svobodny, David Morrow, Chris Dalangin and William Wong, posted six eagles and five birdies but also four bogeys.

Tuesday’s final round will be held at par-71 Poppy Hills Golf Course.
