Redwood City resident Lucy Li, who made history by becoming the youngest player to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open, has also qualified for this year’s U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship.
Li shot 3-over 75 to finish tied for third in an 18-hole qualifier held Wednesday at par-72 Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.
The low nine individuals qualified for the championship, which will be held July 14-19 at The Home Course in Dupont, Wa.
Camille Orito of Fresno and Blair Lewis of La Mesa shared medalist honors with scores of 71.
Joining Li at 75 in the tie for third was four other players—Bakersfield resident Meghan Shain, Fresno’s Hannah Sodersten, Caryn Khoo of Reno and Clare Sorensen of Roseville.
The last two spots came down to a playoff between five players who finished tied at 76. Those emerging from the playoff were Angella Then of Rancho Cucamonga and Taryn Yee of Sacramento.
