PEBBLE BEACH – Relative unknowns Robert Garrigus and Dustin Johnson tore up Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach respectively to take the early lead after the first round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Garrigus and Johnson posted strong 7-under-par 65s to take a one-stroke lead over Rich Beem, Charley Hoffman and Vaughn Taylor.
Prior to today, neither leader has ever held the top spot after any round of PGA Tour competition.
Second-round action commences at 8:00 am Friday with the “A” celebrity field visiting Poppy Hills.
