Call for NCGA Board Nominations

I invite you to recommend qualified candidates to serve as Directors on the NCGA Board for a three-year term beginning January 1, 2009.

The Board is an active body that oversees the affairs of the Association.  They are responsible for reviewing and approving policies and practices necessary to deliver an extensive offering of programs, benefits, and services to Member Clubs.

The Nominating Committee in evaluating applicants for the Board will consider the following qualifications:

  • MEMBERSHIP.  Applicants should have an understanding of the Association through an affiliation with an Associate, private or public Regular club.
  • RELEVANT EXPERIENCE.  Applicants should have a broad spectrum of leadership, management, and advisory experience outside the boardroom. Consideration is given to applicants with demonstrated experience in retail, communications/marketing, finance, fundraising, information technology, golf course development/management, law, charitable/non-profit organization, personnel/professional development, and public service.
  • PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES.  The following are essential characteristics for each applicant:  accountability, dedication, flexibility, integrity, modesty, respect, and a strong work ethic.  In order to serve as a representative of the Association, applicants should have passion for the game of golf, a positive personality, no personal agenda, and the desire to aim for success.
  •  COMMITMENT.  Applicants must be willing to commit their time to be available and accessible and have sufficient resources to execute their responsibilities.  Annual obligations can consume 25-50 days; and, personal expenses can reach $1K-$10K.

To nominate an applicant, please submit ALL of the following items as a single packet by June 30, 2008:

3. Nominee’s current resume outlining education, work history, accomplishments, and past and current board memberships.

NOMINATION PROCESS

I. Call for nominations: May 5 – June 30, 2008
a) Memorandum to boards and staff
b) Letter to regular and associate clubs
c) Announcement on website

II. Deadline to submit nominations: June 30, 2008

III. Nominating Committee reviews nominations: July 1 – July 31, 2008

IV. Nominating Committee conducts interviews: August 1 – August 31, 2008

V. Nominating Committee determines and announces  2009 Board of Directors ticket: September 1 – 30, 2008

VI. New Director Orientation session: November 2008
a) Receive support and education materials
b) Receive uniform apparel
c) Dinner with officers

VII. Association Annual Meeting: December 4, 2008
a) Regular Member Clubs elect 2009 Board of Directors
