| The California Golf Association is a joint association between the Northern California Golf Association (NCGA) and the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA). The two associations collaborate on two primary tournaments every year, the California State Amateur Championship and the California State Senior Amateur Championship. The United States Golf Association or USGA runs more than a dozen national championships for amateur golfers every year. In order to run these championships the USGA relies on regional golf associations like the NCGA to run local and sectional qualifiers. Participants will go through the USGA to register for local and sectional qualifying stages, however regional golf associations will provide pairings for qualifiers.
