The Northern California Golf Association was formed more than 100 years ago by five clubs with the sole purpose of participating in the Pacific Coast Amateur Championship. From that humble beginning, the NCGA has grown to an association consisting of 400 regular clubs and more than 850 associate clubs with a total membership of 150,000 members. Today, members spread from the Oregon border to central California and east into Nevada allowing the NCGA to become one of the largest regional golf associations in the world. Our Mission Statement:

As the Help Desk and Software Systems Manager for the organization, you are the face of the IT Department and your objective is to provide quality support with a focus on resolving issues in a timely manner and delivering a high degree of customer satisfaction to fellow employees at the NCGA. You will gather, organize and prioritize requirements from customers to provide new functionality that will increase quality or enhance their productivity. You will be counted upon to recommend and implement business based solutions in the IT environment. The NCGA IT department supports users at several entities located in Pebble Beach and Livermore. The NCGA is generally a Windows environment, with a few select users operating Apple products. The NCGA also utilizes a suite of mobility products to operate throughout our region.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Monitors department work queue, ensuring work is progressing; alerts proper staff and/or management if work is not progressing as planned; partners with staff, management to develop contingency plans.
- Responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of custom software, or the installation and maintenance of purchased software systems.
- Assist in the resolution of support issues to decrease downtime and to bring about high levels of satisfaction to each customer you engage.
- Research, resolve, and respond to questions received via telephone calls, emails, and web in a timely manner, in accordance with current procedures.
- Produce documentation such as systems requirements, designs, and plans as requested by the work unit leadership.
- Maintain knowledge of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) applications in order to provide technically accurate solutions to customers.
- Work with and bring in new programming methods, tools and technologies.
- Tests software and hardware to evaluate ease of use and whether product will aid user in performing work.
- Participate in team projects that enhance quality or efficiency of service.
- Coordinates training for end-users on software and hardware on-site or in the field, or recommends outside contractors to provide training; Develops training materials such as exercises and visual displays.
- Provide expertise during planning and budgeting processes.
- Possess good verbal and written skills.
PERSONAL COMPETENCIES
As the Software Developer for our organization we are looking for you to have the ability to configure or develop custom software that provides functionality not currently available in our CRM System (Microsoft Dynamics) and/or our ERP System (IBS), and as well handle requests from end users.
To perform the job successfully the candidate must demonstrate: an ability to adhere to deadlines and work within approved budgets, identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, and develop and maintain strong professional relationships within the golf and IT community.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Degree from a four-year college or university with at least two-years experience programming and manipulating CRM platforms. Must have expert-level proficiency with contact management software and must be proficient in using all Microsoft applications. Knowledge of IBS and/or similar programs is a significant plus. Should possess knowledge of the golf community, have strong oral and written communication skills, be detail-oriented and have excellent interpersonal skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with guests, management, vendors/suppliers, the general public and other employees of the NCGA.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee is occasionally required to lift 40 pounds. The employee works most of the time indoors in a controlled environment with low noise levels, and some of the time outdoors in an uncontrolled environment.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and provide proof of insurance. The job requires travel as necessary with overnight stays. NCGA will reimburse mileage expenses at IRS-approved rate.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This is a full-time, salaried position. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience. Some clothing will be provided, with the employee expected to source and maintain a high-standard of attire at all times. Benefit package includes health, dental and vision insurance. Dependents may be added with a portion paid by the employee. Participation in the company’s 401k plan after one full year of employment. Vacation, holidays, meals, golf benefits and sick time also included.
