The Junior Tour of Northern California came about out of the Northern California Golf Association and the Northern California Professional Golf Association’s desire to create a single tour where junior golfers could compete against the best players for an affordable price. The tour was founded by combining the resources of the NCGA’s Junior Tour and the NCPGA’s Junior Tour. The NCGA Junior Tour was founded in 2008 and grew rapidly from eight tournaments to sixteen by 2010. The NCPGA’s Junior Tour began in 2010 and conducted eight tournaments. At the conclusion of the 2010 seasons, the boards of the two organizations decided that a combined tour would meet the needs of the players and parents better than two competing tours.
For 2011, there will be 18 tournaments held from March through October throughout Northern California. The quality of these tournaments has been recognized by the American Junior Golf Association by awarding Performance Based Exemptions to the winners of all Boys and Girls Championship Flight events in 2011.
