This 1924 Willie Watson design cradled in the San Pablo Valley comes from what many call the Golden Age of golf course architecture. Orinda’s natural open space and fescue grasses will provide you with quite a challenge. The tight fairways and shorter yardage are uncommon to today’s modern courses, but will leave you with a feeling of what golf was like in a different time.
Blackhawk CC boasts two championship courses, including the Lakeside course which has hosted the LPGA Tour. Known as one of the most difficult courses in northern California, the Lakeside course is sure to challenge even the most skilled of players. Tucked just behind Mt. Diablo, Blackhawk is an invitation only private club that offers breathtaking valley views and exceptional golf.
Bring a guest and test your skills on the course the celebrities play. Host of the American Century Celebrity Championship, the Edgewood Tahoe course runs along Lake Tahoe and offers breathtaking views of both mountain and sea. Discount hotel nights are available by contacting email@example.com
Montreux is the host venue of the PGA Tour’s Reno-Tahoe Open, and this outing allows the rare opportunity to play where the pros play. This 1997 Jack Nicklaus design is touted as one of his favorites. Discount hotel nights are available by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org
Located in an ideal setting for a tranquil golf experience, Marin CC recently underwent an extensive renovation to enhance their championship level golf course. A host of multiple USGA qualifiers including those for the US Open and US Amateur events, Marin CC will present you with both a challenging and peaceful day of golf. Known for pristine conditioning, Marin CC should definitely be on your list to play in 2015.
Granite Bay CC is a 1994 Robert Trent Jones Jr. & Kyle Phillips design patterned after some of the greatest courses in the U.S. Located in the Sierra Foothills, the course meanders through granite outcroppings, mature oak trees, and natural lakes. A challenging course in its own right, Granite Bay requires accurate tee shots and a superb short game if you want to score well.
Course architect Alister MacKenzie touted this layout as his favorite, even above Augusta National and Cypress Point Club. It is ranked in the top 3 of “Best courses you can play in California” by Golf Digest.
Situated on the hills of northeast Santa Rosa, Fountaingrove is a 1984 Ted Robinson, Sr. designed course that will suit all levels of golfers. Robinson incorporated a design philosophy of large putting greens to help the average golfer, and his signature water features can be seen throughout the course. Fountaingrove has been featured in Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play.”
Sonoma Golf Club was the host of the Championships Tour Charles Schwab Cup Championship from 2003-2009. The course is fair, yet challenging as it provides various strategic options throughout the round. The course offers a particularly special set of par three’s which carry both spectacular beauty and difficulty. Located in the heart of wine country, the Outing at Sonoma Golf Club will be a special treat for those who attend.
Located on lush, rolling terrain in the shadows of Mt. Diablo, Oakhurst CC boasts a magnificent Ron Fream designed championship layout with gradual elevation changes and challenging putting greens to test all golfers. Named “Best New Course in Northern California” by California Golf magazine in 1990, you will not be disappointed if you participate in this Outing.
Lake Merced is continually a favorite among Outings each year, and fills up very quickly for good reason. Considered one of the greatest layouts in California, the course has had alterations done by both McKenzie and Rees Jones. Located in the heart of San Francisco, Lake Merced GC will be one of the most enjoyable golf experiences you have ever had.
