Beginning in 2007, the Northern California Junior Players’ Championship has been played annually at Rancho Canada in Carmel Valley. The event is conducted jointly by the NCGA and the Northern California Junior Golf Association.
Players must be members of both the NCGA and the JGANC to compete. The format is modified stableford with a double eagle earning 12 points, eagle 8 points, birdie 4 points, par 2 points, bogey 1 point and double bogey or more 0 points. A perpetual trophy is awarded to the overall boy and girl champion, while runner-up and third-placers in each age group division receive medals.

CARMEL VALLEY – Bryson Dechambeau of Clovis grabbed the overall Boys title, playing from the 14-15 age flight. Dechambeau carded 86 points for the two rounds, going three under par in conventional scoring powered by four birdies against one bogey in the final round.
San Jose’s Hannah Suh won the Girls title, holding onto her first-round lead in earning 84 points for a six-point win. CARMEL VALLEY – A nail-biting four-way-tie emerged in the Boys’ overall championship at 75 points. The result was a playoff between Matt Williams of San Jose, Nick Sako of Menlo Park, Ben Geyer of Arbuckle and Dash Lindsell of Burlingame. Sako was victorious in claiming the overall title after firing a 4-under-par round to finish at 75 points.
