PEBBLE BEACH – Rob Thompson and Bob Berg must know something we don’t about the back nine at Poppy Hills.

The duo produced 12 birdies over the back-nine holes for the tournament, for a blemish-free 12-under-par.  For the third time in four years, Thompson and Berg clinched yet another NCGA Senior Four-Ball Championship, the first team to do so since the tournament’s inception ten years ago.

“It was all about teaming together,” commented Thompson, “We think we play well as a team and we are one of the teams that other teams should be afraid of.”  The pair finished at 11-under-par 205, with a final-round 67 to secure the trophy by two-strokes over Mark Miller and Herb Jensen, runner-up finishers for the second year in a row.  Miller and Jensen fought hard with five birdies in the final round to finish with a 68 and 9-under-par for the tournament.

Douglas Johnson of Fig Garden and Rob Adolph of San Joaquin tied for third with overnight leaders Jim Knoll of Rooster Run and Mayacama’s Paul Balatti, who fired a disappointing even-par round to finish.  Both teams finished at 8-under-par 208 for the tournament, three strokes off the winning pace.
