PEBBLE BEACH – Three champions secured titles in three respective handicap flights of the NCGA Associate Club Net Amateur Championship at Poppy Hills.
In the low-handicapper President’s flight, James Bleakmore of Sacramento Nomads Golf came from behind in the final round to claim the championship. Bleakmore’s two-round net 137 was good for a two-shot win over Joe Silverthorn of Katz GC. Silverthorn won a playoff for second place over first-round leader Bruce Krogness of the Dot Squad.
Doug Thompson of E.J. Gallo Winery captured the Director’s flight title, expanding his first-round lead to a two-stroke margin of victory. Thompson fired a net nine-under 135. Second place was earned by Dave Cresson of eClub San Francisco while third place went to Earl Armas of Cisco Country Club.
The Secretary’s flight saw Dan Westfall of Electronic Systems GC establish a commanding five-stroke lead in the first round and then keep that lead to capture the title via a net 132 total. Oscar Geronimo of Skins and Pins GC took second place while Justin Kegal of North Bay GC finished third.
