LIVERMORE: Three deserving winners emerged with championships in three respective flights at the NCGA Net Amateur held at Poppy Ridge.

In the President’s Flight, for golfers with the lowest handicaps, Dale Howell of The Lincoln Hills Club came from behind in the final round to secure the championship. Howell’s final-round net 67 produced a two-under-par 140 total and a two-stroke win. First-round leader Michael Culy of Manteca Park while John Doyle of Lake Chabot grabbed third place.

Todd Weatherly of Bass Lake also came from behind to take the title in the Director’s Flight. A final round net 64 and 12-under 132 total provided the fuel to a five-stroke win over first-round leader Geoffrey Brown of Napa. Miles Short of Selma Valley took third.

The Secretary’s Flight, for golfers with the highest handicaps, saw Ralph Freilinger of Twin Creeks hold on to his first-round lead to claim the championship. Frelinger was tied by Anthony Russo of Crystal Springs at 13-under net 131 but after a two-hole playoff, Freilinger prevailed. Mark Gardner of Shelter Cove took third, 10 strokes back.
