PEBBLE BEACH – The Bass Lake GC team of Todd Weatherly, Ray Cheek, Blaine McCutchan and Eugene Quintana captured the Sacramento Zone Championship at Poppy Hills, coming from three strokes behind in the second round.
Bass Lake fired a 35-under-par 253, in the format that takes the best two of four net scores per hole, to win by two strokes. After a playoff, the Sunrise GC team of Larry Orcutt, Dave Fondersmith, Burke Adrian and Larry Lowe took second place over Empire Ranch.
Both Bass Lake and Sunrise qualify for the Zone Championship, to be played August 20-21 at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill.
