PEBBLE BEACH – The 47th Annual NCGA Senior Net Championship concluded at Poppy Hills today with champions in each of the three divisions.
In the President’s flight, Eureka’s Joe Gossi fired a two-round net six-under-par 138 to claim the title, while Norman Bostock of Katz GC and Gary Borst of Lake Tahoe GC tied in second spot at four-under-par and had to compete in a playoff for the runner-up honor. Bostock won the playoff to take second-place, while Borst finished in third.
Derek Gilchrist of Catta Verdera GC nabbed the honors in the Director’s flight with a scorching net ten-under-par 134. District 04′s Zac Cohen took the runner-up spot with a 66 in the final round to finish six-strokes out of first place, while a three-under-par 141 by Oscar Baranchuk of Cinnebar Hills was good enough for third.
Del Wermuth of NMGA ran away with a five-stroke victory in the Secretary flight with a net five-under-par 139. Wermuth was the only player in his division to shoot under par at the Poppy Hills course. Meanwhile, De Laveaga’s Norman Krebill edged out Albert Haygood of PGG Laguna Seca by one stroke to grab the runner-up spot. Haygood secured third-place with two-over-par 145 for the tournament.
