PEBBLE BEACH – The Oakdale team of Stan Colombo, Ken Ockey, Ken Nichols and Mike Russell captured the NCGA Central Valley Zone Championship at Poppy Hills on Tuesday.
With a net 31-under-par score, Oakdale stole a two-stroke victory over the field with their 257 total. The Van Buskirk team of Al Marcelino, Nick Hernandez, Phil Lovato and Jack Vernon placed in second with a net 29-under-par score in the format that takes the two best net scores of four on each hole.
Jim Henslee of River Oaks aced a hole-in-one on the 139-yard 6th hole.
Oakdale and Van Buskirk will advance to the Zone Championship to be played at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill on August 25-26.
