PEBBLE BEACH - The Moraga CC team of Denis Iwata, Benny Lee, Ed Leong and Walter Lin came from two strokes behind in the final round to claim the NCGA Northeast Bay Zone Championship at Poppy Hills.
Moraga and the first-round leader Richmond CC team of Vic Campbell, Chris Kalabokes, David Ruffman and David Stumbos both fired a 32-under par net 256 in the format that takes the best two of four scores per hole. After a one-hole playoff, Moraga emerged as the victor.
Two strokes back, Concord GC finished third powered by Marcus Walton’s ace on the 15th hole at Spyglass in the first round.
Moraga and Richmond advance to the Zone Championship to be played at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill on August 25-26.
