PEBBLE BEACH - The Lake Merced team of Dirk Godsey, Steven Pollak, Stephen Jaeger and Dale Holub captured the NCGA San Francisco Zone Championship at Spyglass Hill with a team score of net 32-under-par 256. They edged out Marin and Gleneagles International by a single stroke in the format the takes the best two of four net scores per hole.
Marin’s Joe Allen, Blake Andros, Jeff Locke and Terry Noyer fired a final-round net 14-under-par to jump up the leaderboard and tie with the Gleneagles International team of Louis Coughenour, Timothy Holt, John Jones and Scott Whatmore for the runner-up honors at 31-under-par 257.
Marin won on the second playoff hole to secure their spot in the finals.
Lake Merced and Marin advance to the NCGA Zone Championship, to be played at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill August 25-26.
