Mount Whitney claimed the NCGA South Sierra Zone Championship at Spyglass Hill by a landslide. The team of Ron Vasquez, Larry Benbrook, Logan Benbrook and Jeff Roberts fired a net 16-under-par round today to finish at 32-under-par 256 and win by eight strokes.
Robert Dyer, Lorin Farr, David Yates and Rodney Yates of Cold Springs came from behind to edge out Mountain Springs GC by a single stroke and nab the runner-up honors. Cold Springs fired a 20-under-ar to finish on 26-under-par 262 in the format that takes the best two of four scores per hole.
Mount Whitney and Cold Springs will advance to the NCGA Zone Championship finals to be held at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill on August 25-26.
Champions: The Mount Whitney team of Ron Vasquez, Larry Benbrook, Logan Benbrook and Jeff Roberts.
Runner-up team: Cold Springs team of Robert Dyer, Lorin Farr, David Yates and Rodney Yates.
